Making 2014 The BEST Year Yet!

Listen to my New Year’s message.

“Our encounters with greatness very seldom amount to “Wow!” moments. All we notice at the beginning is a slight flutter. We see, hear or read something that stands out. How much? We’re not sure. We need to know more. But our curiosity has been engaged. We certainly will take stock of this new presence some more. Those follow up sessions -the second, third, fourth and fifth encounters – are where we gradually gain the conviction to say: “That really is someone extraordinary.”

When we fiddle with the narrative afterward, trying to create a sense of awe at the first encounter, we do so because it feels as if events “should” have unfolded that way. But when such retouching of the story takes place, we shortchange the most impressive part of the talent spotter’s art. If bells went off every time someone amazing walked into sight, it wouldn’t be hard at all to recognize the first stirrings of greatness. The great art lies in being open-minded enough to see faint possibilities at first, and then being methodical enough to keep coming back for more impressions, until the full picture is clear.” – George Anders; The Rare Find

2014; the year of becoming the BEST you can be! How do we make that happen? As Anders talks about above it is in the little compounded encounters with greatness that we identify something or someone extraordinary. So too, with the actions we take towards our goals and dreams. Every moment, of every day will add up to what our year will look like at the end. So to have a great year we must make every month, every week, every day, every minute and every second count. It all adds up! At the end of the year we will get to look back at all that was accomplished and see how all the ‘little’ things that were done on a daily basis added up to something great!

Most people set goals and begin to go for them on Jan 1 but then at the first sign of adversity they give up.

When life knocks you down, do you whine and complain or get up and fight? The masses usually give up just as they are about to break through the cycle of failure every successful person must endure.

No matter how many times you get knocked down, just keep getting up and fighting. The odds of you succeeding increase exponentially with every swing you take.

“If you find yourself saying ‘I can’t do something’, but you know it in your heart of hearts that if you do it, you’re going to grow, you’re going to be a better person, it’s going to contribute to your family or to your kids or to something that matters, and you keep saying ‘I can’t do it,’ there is no question—you must do it. You don’t discuss it anymore. You just take immediate action… You do what’s necessary.” – Tony Robbins

Reasons come first. Answers come second.

Have your goals and dreams; your reasons, visible and in constant view. That’s what will carry you through and help you continue your focus when times get tough.

New Year’s Day gives us a clean slate, we get to begin writing the first page of a 365 page book. In order to make it one that won’t have the scribbles of years gone by you’ll need to make a decision. 2014 will be just like the rest unless you make a decision.

“It is in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped. Decision is the ultimate power. Decisions shape destiny.”

5 years from now you undoubtedly will arrive somewhere. The question is where? Would you be satisfied 5 years from now, if your life looked exactly the same?

BIG dreams require BIG decisions and BIG action!

Doubt your fears instead of doubting your dreams! Feed your dreams with daily affirmations and starve your fears by filtering who you are listening to!

Let’s go make 2014 THE BEST YEAR of our lives!
